Sharing Hope Through the Love of God
How to Become a Member
The First Baptist Church has a time of invitation following each worship. This time is provided for anyone wishing to make a profession of faith and/or commitment to the Lord Jesus and to the Lord’s work at the First Baptist Church. During the invitational hymn, you may walk to the front of the worship center where the Pastor and his assistants will assist you in becoming a member of our church. Following is an explanation of the ways in which you may join the First Baptist Church:
PROFESSION OF FAITH (Baptism): If you receive Christ as your personal Savior and Lord and follow Him in Baptism by immersion you are outwardly expressing your faith. See below: "How Do I Find A Relationship with God?"
MEMBERSHIP TRANSFER As a baptized believer whose church membership is elsewhere, we welcome you into our fellowship. We will send to your former church for your church letter.
STATEMENT: By statement from another denomination. This is a statement of Faith in Jesus Christ and that you have been baptized by immersion. If you are moving your letter from another denomination and have not been baptized by immersion we require that you be baptized by immersion for memebrship into our fellowship.
How Do I Find A Relationship With God?
Step 1: God has a Purpose for My Life
God loves us and wants you to experience peace and life—abundant and eternal.
“I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.” - John 10:10
Step 2: The Problem: Our Separation from God
God gave us a will and freedom of choice. We chose to disobey God and go our own willful way. The result is separation from God.
“For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” - Romans 3:23
Our Attempts to Reach God
“There is a way that seems right to a man, but in the end it leads to death.” Proverbs 14:12
“But your iniquities have separated you from God . . .” - Isaiah 59:2
Step 3: God’s Bridge—The Cross
Jesus Christ died on the cross and rose from the grave. He paid the penalty for our sin and bridged the gap between God and people.
“For Christ died for sins once for all, the righteous for the unrighteous, to bring you to God.” 1 Peter 3:18
Step 4: Our Response: Receive Christ
We must receive Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior and receive Him by personal invitation.
“That if you confess with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord’ and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.” - Romans 10:9
How I Can Receive Christ:
1. Admit your need. (I am a sinner)
2. Be willing to turn from your sins (repent)
3. Believe that Jesus Christ died for you on the cross and rose from the grave.
4. Through prayer, invite Jesus Christ to come in and control your life through the Holy Spirit. (Receive Him as Lord and Savior.)
Dear Jesus, I know that I am a sinner and need Your forgiveness. I believe that You died for my sins. I want to turn from my sins. I now invite You to come into my heart and life. I want to trust and follow You as Lord and Savor.—Amen
